Design for a better world
A new type of CE-certified guide rail has been designed for N-roads that elegantly embraces the road directly next to characteristic rows of trees. It is the solution for dangerous N-roads where many fatal accidents occur every year. This award-winning intelligent design kills several birds with one stone: safe roads, can be placed anywhere, no felling of trees, no relocation of cables and pipes, and above all sustainable in all respects. The smart combination of technology, design and material ensures an integral design that blends in with nature and stands for peace, harmony and cost savings.
No felling of trees and relocation of cables and pipes
More than 40% of N-roads are dangerous, according to research by Rijkswaterstaat. Limited space due to narrow verges, light poles, water and trees that are too close to the road often make it impossible to safely arrange the verge according to the official guidelines with a standard or traditional guide rail. It is also often full of cables, pipes and tree roots that are damaged or have to be moved. Compact Ecorail has a diagonally anchored foundation outside this zone and a deflection width of 0.6 metres, which means that the system fits everywhere and saves people and trees.
Modular and connectable
The rail is modular and therefore easy to replace. In the event of a collision, the pole above ground and the coupling piece absorb the impact. Only those parts need to be replaced. The sloping pole and infrastructure below ground remain undamaged. The design also fits perfectly with commonly used standard guide rails.
Durable, safe and ready for nature
The new principle consists of weather-resistant corten steel. This material is very strong and is characterised by the beautiful orange-brown rusted surface. The appearance matches very well in nature reserves. The rust layer forms the aesthetic value of the material but at the same time protects against external influences and further rusting. Corten steel is therefore low-maintenance. Thanks in part to the protective rust layer, corten steel lasts at least as long as normal galvanised steel. You can therefore count on a very long lifespan.
Good for the planet and 100% recyclable
Because corten steel is not treated with corrosion inhibitors such as zinc, the environment is not burdened. In addition, the steel can be fully recycled after its lifespan and transformed into raw material for other products.
Preservation of landscape and environment
he innovative foundation and modest height of the new system allow you to enjoy the landscape, the trees and the surroundings while moving safely on the road. It prevents unnecessary expensive infrastructural adjustments to the historical routes that have been created over the centuries and emotional discussions about tree felling.
Road recognizability and predictability
The corten steel appearance of the guardrail, often in combination with the rows of trees, characterises the N-road and does not evoke associations with motorways. You recognise the road as an N-road, know what to expect and how to behave. Behaviour becomes more uniform and self-evident. The delineation of the road with the Compact Ecorail also ensures a more predictable course of the road.
